The Practice of Returning to Yourself
Share
There is a version of self-love that has nothing to do with liking everything about yourself.
Not the kind that requires you to be at your best, or to have it all figured out, or to feel good every single day. The kind that sits quietly underneath all of that. The kind that does not leave when things get hard or when you disappoint yourself or when you look in the mirror and feel something complicated.
That version is not about performance. It is about return.
You return to yourself after a hard season. You return to yourself after you said the wrong thing or made the wrong choice or lost something you thought you needed to be whole. You return not because everything is perfect but because you are the one constant in every version of your life, and that deserves something. It deserves your own presence.
Loving who you are is not a destination. It is a daily practice of coming back. Of choosing, again and again, to be on your own side. To speak to yourself the way you would speak to someone you love. To rest when you need it without making that mean something about your worth. To let the small, ordinary version of you, not just the impressive version, not just the version at its best, be enough.
You already are enough. That has never been the question.
